With the increasing demand for multimedia services, various portable intelligent terminals are constantly emerging, such as smart phone, PDA, Netbook and tablet PC. Therefore, how to play audio and video content smoothly on these portable terminals, has become a research hotspot in recent years. Streaming media technology, as a combination of network communication technology and multimedia technology, allows users to watch the audio and video programs after a short buffering time, rather than download it. To this end, the main task of this thesis is design and implementation of a RTSP mobile streaming proxy based on MINA framework.Firstly, we introduced the mobile streaming technology, analyzed the architecture of mobile streaming media system, and especially discussed the key components of the system in depth. Then the transport and control protocols were introduced, including RTSP, RTP, RTCP and SDP. Due to the bandwidth requirements of streaming media and the instability of mobile network, by taking into account the popularity of Wi-Fi technology, the thesis proposed using wireless LAN as an effective complementary technology to cellular mobile communication network, then applying streaming media technology. In some open public Wi-Fi hotspots such as airports, schools and other areas, the deployment of mobile streaming proxy server can effectively provide streaming media access for portable terminals.In this thesis, a mobile streaming media proxy server as above-mentioned is designed and implemented. The server itself does not provide streaming media contents, but to play the role of a proxy or a gateway, to provide streaming media agency services. This proxy server also have basic security feature, it can filter the coming IP address using specific rules. Using mobile streaming proxy, mobile terminals can access streaming media resources on the Internet.
