Annealing is a key process on improving the mechanical properties of strip, and directly affects the final quality of steel. In the actual production process, as the annealing furnace’s complex process, the quality indicators of strips cannot be measured on-line. The quality of the strip is usually detected after production, that is, when the strip has been produced, the inspector or the inspection institutions measure them.So, there is a large time lag,and this inspection does not play a prevention and control role in production process.Therefore, on-line quality monitoring used on the annealing production process has practical significance.In this paper, the annealing furnace of a cold-rolled stainless steel’s annealing and pickling line in a company is used as the background. In order to determine the status of the production process, the process data are analysised and interpretated by quality mornitoring method.For continuous annealing process has the characteristics of batch production, Multi-way Partial Least Squares (MPLS) and Multi-way Kernel Partial Least Squares (MKPLS) are applied to estimate the quality indicators of steel. Using the sampling data to verify two methods’effectiveness by simulating,it verifies that the MKPLS method is better than the MPLS method. Finally,through the perspective of the software researching,a software based on Vusial C++software development platform is developed by using COM component, OPC and ODBC technologies. The software is not only to achieve the online monitoring function of single variable and multivariable, but also to realize the function of estimating the final product quality indicators.The quality monitoring software designed in this paper can help user to detect the fluctuation and slow variation of the continuous annealing furnace’s production process, what’s more, it also resolve the lag of time on detecting quality of strip.The software improves the quality and the productivity benefits of the annealing furnace system.
