Abstract


Based on the development of laminar cooling control system for a1580mm hot strip mill, a series of cooling modes and cooling strategies, such as the strip cooling rate control, the middle temperature control and the coiling temperature control, are developed for the hot strip mill. In order to ensure that the coiling temperature and mechanical properties are homogeneous along the strip length and width, laminar cooling control system are developed and applied. The laminar cooling system has been running with a high precision, which insures the mechanical properties and quality of the strip. The main research contents and results are as the following:(1) The temperature control theory and mathematical models of the laminar cooling control system are analyzed, and new mathematic models are developed.(2) The functions of the cooling control system such as pre-setup calculation, modification setup calculation, feedback control, and self-learning are researched in detail in the paper, the algorithm process and procedure of each control modules are described.(3) Under the requirements of temperature control mode of special strip, coiling temperature control, cooling rate control and two-step temperature control are realized. Through a series of application, production requirements are fulfilled.(4) Phenomena such as residue water on the surface of thicker strips, shape buckle after cooling are solved by a series of cooling strategies, which can be realized in a flexible way.(5) The whole strip temperature control is realized. Strip tracking and real velocity fluctuation are taken into account.(6) Resolving the variance between model setup and feedback after the optimization of feedback model.(7) Model maintenance tools are developed. Since the online operation, the new laminar cooling system has been running stably with a high precision of coiling temperature control. Qualities and performances of products are improved significantly.
