Abstract


Along with the development of economic globalization, finance has gradually become the core of modern economy. The level of development of the financial sector determines the level of development of a country's economy, the banking sector as an important part of the modern financial system, plays an important role in the country's macro-economic regulation and resource allocation, so the commercial banking system stable and efficient will become an important guarantee of rapid economic growth. Since 2006, in accordance with China's WTO accession commitments that China's banking industry has been abolished restrictions on the entry of foreign financial institutions, foreign banks with domestic commercial banks in the same competitive platform. Shanghai is China's most economically developed regions, over the years, GDP ranked first in the country, the banking sector development has brought a strong financial environment, but at the same time brings together almost all Chinese commercial banks and foreign banks in Shanghai . Owned commercial banks to gain a foothold in a highly developed financial environment and a highly competitive market and the development, preservation of the fruitful results of China's financial reform, it is necessary to fundamentally improve the competitiveness of the bank itself. Efficiency is a concentrated expression of the competitiveness of the commercial banks, the bank efficiency evaluation to identify the main problem affecting the efficiency of commercial banks, and reform to improve bank efficiency is imminent. This paper uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative, standardized and empirical methods, respectively, from the theoretical and empirical comparative analysis of the efficiency of commercial banks in Shanghai. Arrangement of contents, the paper first introduces the basic theory of banking efficiency, including the concept of banking efficiency, classification and calculation method, through the advantages and disadvantages of the more traditional methods, the latest research abroad - three-stage DEA method, followed by the three stage DEA method introduced in detail. Selected 2005-2009 14 furniture representative bank panel data empirical analysis were calculated technical efficiency of the three types of banks, within the range of pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency, and efficiency rank last overall Trend analysis of the efficiency of commercial banks in Shanghai. Next theoretically affect the efficiency of the factors of qualitative analysis, selected five variables represent empirical analysis and Tobit model of influencing factors. Finally, based on the analysis of theoretical and empirical research, targeted the four countermeasures and suggestions to improve the efficiency of commercial banks in Shanghai.
