Hydraulic motor with non-circular planetary gears is a new type oflow-speed and high-torque hydraulic motor. Because of its significant advantagesof simple structure, small size, light weight and range of speed, such hydraulicmotor has been already widely used in the ship deck machinery, plastic moldingmachinery, construction machinery and other areas.The main part of this type hydraulic motor is a non-circular planetarymechanism with variable center distance and without binders, a lot of constraintsmust be taken into account in its design process, many designers shrunk backbefore the blind choice of parameter and the repeated proof-calculation in thedesign process. After reading a lot of relevant literature and knowing well theworking principle of the motor, the basic formula was derived and the designconstraints set was established in this paper. The non-linear goal programmingapproach has been introduced into the design model to avoid the blind choice ofparameter and the repeated proof-calculation in design, thus to change such asituation: the widespread application of non-circular planetary gear hydraulic motorwas limited due to the complex and difficult design calculations.The calculation of performance parameters for non-circular planetary gearhydraulic motor is another core element of this paper. First of all, an approximateanalytical expression for the non-circular ring gear pitch curve was derived, whichis the basic for the calculation of some other performance parameters, then solvedthe design of oil distribution in both two kinds working types, the calculation of themotor discharge with the calculation and drawing methods. At last was thedetermination of the pulse rate of non-circular planetary gear hydraulic motor andthe overlapping coefficients of non-circular planetary mechanism without binder.Based on the data gained in the above calculation process, the drawing of thepitch curves, the drawing of the oil holes, the location of the planetary gears inmotion at any time, the drawing of the profile were realized under the AutoCADenvironment. Finally, the motion simulation of non-circular planetary gearhydraulic motor was achieved through the continuous animation.The design system for hydraulic motor with non-circular planetary gearsdeveloped in this paper combined both the calculation and drawing functions tosupport the whole design process: from pitch curve design, mechanism design,calculation of performance parameter, drawings, until the motion simulation. It can be used in the design of various kinds of hydraulic motor with non-circularplanetary gears: with conchoid or high order ellipse pitch curve, in I or O workingtype, with different period numbers. Several application example of the designsystem showed the operation procedures and the function and practical benefit of it.
