Chinese automobile industry is developing rapidly these years and so isthe consumer market. People’s improved requirements of products are notonly various performance and functions, but also the feeling brought bystyling and the matching to their status and lifestyle.To meet the new demands of the market, Chinese manufactures havebeen attaching more importance to styling design and the design level isdeveloping rapidly through hard working. Yet most of them are still at thestage of using for reference from successful foreign models. Althoughinnovation and creativity are encouraged, the result is insufficient very ideal.Industrial design especially car styling design is different art. It’s not anartwork to express artists’ voice, but kind of work that have regular patterns tofollow. It’s believed that the weakness of Chinese car design is not onlycaused by the lack of talent and management system, but also the lack ofexperience and rule of thumb.In the circumstances, this thesis is intended to summarize practicalstyling rules from the perspective of form properties, car factors and so on, soas to provide some text reference material for whom that is trying to getstyling design with great creativity.Three design projects presented in the end of thesis are small city vehicle,family sport coupe and TOYOTA sedan for Chinese market. All designprocess of these three projects is in the guidance of the regular patternssummarized in the thesis. Meanwhile, the practical projects help complementthe regular patterns as well and the impressive result clarify propulsive effortof research above for innovative vehicle design.
