Abstract


The car panel mold is the main process equipment of the production of car panel, its design and manufacture is the bottleneck of the car replacement. Panel wedge mold design is the important part of panel mold design and also is difficulty of panel mold design. Traditional panel wedge design has high dependence on designer’s design experience. There are some issues such as long design cycle, inefficient and difficulty of quickly respond to customer needs in panel wedge mold design.In this paper, based on the die CAD theory, the concepts and methods of the product configuration and product variant design are introduced into the traditional car panel wedge mold design. Firstly, based on the analysis of typical wedge type and structure, the feasibility of different types of wedge mold product configuration design is demonstrated, a product family-based modeling method of panel wedge mold product configuration is in-depth study, the build process of panel wedge mold product configuration is discussed in detail. Secondly, the merits of traditional variant design and panel wedge mold variant design is compared, the key technology of wedge mold variant design is in-depth study from Parametric Technology, Assembly Modeling Technology, Feature technology, BOM technology and other aspects, the specific procedures of configuration-based wedge mold variant design is discussed from product configuration aspect. Finally, the configuration-based panel wedge mold variant design CAD system is developed in UG-NX4. The system can easily achieve the design and modification of wedge mold. As the appropriate use of interactive design, the user can easily modify the design, with good usability.As use of product configuration technology and variant design technology, combined with wedge mold industry standards, design specifications and experience, panel wedge mold high-quality design and high-efficiency design are achieved.
