The urban underground pipeline is an important part of the urban infrastructureand is a basic guarantee to modern city with high quality and high efficiency. At thesame time, it is the material foundation of urban survival and development,meanwhile it is basic condition for economy and people’s life to go on smoothly.The urban underground pipeline is known as the “lifeline of the city” for it isresponsible for the transmission of information, the energy and the garbage. Theexisting material of urban underground pipeline is an important foundation for urbanplanning and design, construction and management. Identification of undergroundpipeline laying situation and the establishment of urban underground pipelineinformation system have a very important practical significance. Scientificmanagement of underground pipelines can bring huge economic and social benefits tothe city.form the reality of the urban underground water supply pipeline management, thenecessity of underground pipeline detection and the significance of urbanunderground pipeline information management system establishment are discussed inthis thesis. Beyond that, the urgency of significance of realizing underground pipelineinformation digitization and scientific, modern management is also analyzed. Urbanpipelines are of wide varieties and of intensive distribution. The city depends on theunderground pipeline more and more along with its rapid development. The existingmaterial of urban underground pipeline is an important foundation for urban planningand design, construction and management. The author expounded the principles and methods of underground pipeline detection on the basis of underground pipelinedetection project in Nanchong city. With the foundation of the measures of watersupply pipeline, it discusses the pipeline measurement theory, the control of the layoutof the network,the contents of the pipeline points and pipeline data quality checksmethod.The data is the core of GIS, high-quality data is an important guarantee of thequality of GIS products. This paper describes the GIS data acquisition, data accuracy,data processing and data storage method.Combining the existing geographic information system management technology,taking the actual situation of underground water supply network in Nanchong city asbasis, the author discusses the objectives of the urban underground pipelinemanagement information system design, content, function, features, andimplementing measure. The key technologies and features of the system design alsobe introduced.In the end, it summerizes the detection of underground pipeline and undergroundpipeline management information and points out the existing problems anddeficiencies which is needed to work for in the future.
