Abstract


Open access as a new mode of scholarly publishing and communication, advocated the sharing and free access of scholarly information, promoted the scholarly communication in effectively.The quantity of open access resource increased gradually with the rapid development of the open access movement. open access movement showed the international developing trends on the scholarly information sesources.There are two mainly methods of open access resource,open access journals and open access repository, and open access repository use the advanced information technology electroniced the research results of the researchers, then stored in the open access repositories. They can made the scholarly information sesults quickly and easily be spreaded and retrieved and used in the disciplines area. Open access repositories achieved the purpose of promoting scholarly information communication.This article choose the open access repository as the researching object.Based on the investigation and analysis of open access repositories in domestic and foreign,then analyse of surveried data comparatively. Lastly, the article summarizes the shortages of open access repositories in china. And then put forward some solution strategies about construction and development of open access repository in china.This article discusses the following contents:Section 1 discusses the research background, research status,research content and research methods.Section 2 is the overview of access open and open access repository, introduces the concept of open access, background and forms,and the definition of open access repositories and categories,and the reasons of choosing open access repository as the research object.Section 3 introduces examples of open access repositories,choose arXiv,PubMed Central, eScholarship Repository, JAIRO and ePrints@IISC abroad; and xiamen university institutional repository, NSL-IR, seeKSpace,HKUST Institutional Repository and Sciencepaper Online in china. The paper investigate and analyze the regional distribution,the number and type of resources, resource updates, subject distribution,software applications,and several other aspects of open access repositories in domestic and international.Section 4 based on the Analysis and Comparison of open access repositories in domestic and international, put forward some solution strategies about construction and development of open access repository in china, Such as policy, intellectual property, etc.
