Abstract

Nickel-based alloy GH41169 is a kind of alloy with high intensity, heat- stability and heat-fatigability. It has poor machinability. Cutting force, chip formation, tool wear all present their particular characters. The favorable heat- stability and inhibited retarded oxidation of GH4169 makes it has good physical performance under temperature above 1000℃, therefore, it is often used to aviation, aerospace and atomic energy domain. However, it has poor machinability and it is more important to do some research on machining GH4169. This article discusses the machinability of GH4169 on the basis of cutting force and tool wear.First, some research is done on analytical method for cutting force signal, and energy spectrum analysis is obtained from the view of frequency domain. On this basis, find the relation between cutting force frequency and the frequency of saw-tooth chip, and the rule that how the swing of the cutting force influence the surface roughness. Then, because the fluctuation of the cutting force has great influence on the tool wear, cutting cools may present different wear behaviors under different cutting conditions. Therefore, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDS) is investigated to analyse wear behavior and wear mechanism. Wear mechanism of coated carbide tools is summarized.Combine the analysis above and the adhesion model that Archard put forward, the flank adhesion wear model when cutting Inconel718 by coated carbide tools is deduced and calculated, the parameters of the model is ensured by some experimental results. What’s more, cutting parameters are optimized according to the best cutting temperature, realize the aim of cutting parameter optimization.
