Salviae miltiorrhizae is traditional Chinese medicinal herb in China, itspharmacological effects is similar with trace element selenium at biological inorganicchemical properties. Generaly in the low concentrations, selenium on plant havefunctions of growth promoting, slowing down aging of plants, antagonist heavy metalpoisoning. It may produce synergistic effect in physiological function, that Seleniumbond with active ingredients in salvia miltiorrhiza. In order to understand the impact that selenium on salvia miltiorrhiza secondarymetabolites, the cultivation experiments that selenium was replenished intoZhongJiang salvia miltiorrhiza were proceeded. In experiments, HPLC was used toanalyse salvianolic acid A and salvianolic acid B in main secondary metabolites ofordinary salvia miltiorrhiza and seleniumed salvia miltiorrhiza. The finger-printspectras of liposoluble components and water-soluble constituents were analysed. Themethods of hydroxyl radical clearance, superoxide radical clearance, total reducingwere used to analyse extracorporeal anti-oxidation activity of extracted compositionsin salviae miltiorrhizae. Contents, types, extracorporeal anti-oxidation activity ofordinary salvia miltiorrhiza and selenium intaked salvia miltiorrhiza were analysed.Research on liposoluble components of Selenium-rich salvia miltiorrhiza showthat, during2009, in field experiments, tanshinone IIA content in selenium intakedsalvia miltiorrhiza were higher than matched group, such as, high spraying group, lowspraying group were significant different with matched group. And high sprayinggroup was significant different with low spraying group(p<0.05); during2010, in fieldexperiments, tanshinone IIA content in selenium intaked group were significanthigher than matched group. The similarity evaluation between sample finger-printspectras and matched finger-print spectras show that, chemical compositions inselenium ordinary salvia miltiorrhiza were similar with selenium intaked salvia miltiorrhiza, and the similarity were above0.98. Comparisons of the total peak area, average of the common peak total peak area between ordinary salvia miltiorrhiza andselenium intaked salvia miltiorrhiza, show that, content in intaked salvia miltiorrhizawere obviously improved. In2009field experiments, total peak area of high sprayinggroup and low spraying group were in excess of49.04%and47.85%common peaktotal peak area of high spraying group and low spraying group were in excess of56.11%and43.13%, those were about1.5times of matched group. In2010field experiments, total peak area of high spraying group and low spraying group were in excess of35.86%and24.43%, common peak total peak area of high spraying group and low sprayinggroup were in excess of32.99%and23.54%. Experimental results show that, thecontents of tanshinone IIA increased significantly besides, other ingredients ofliposoluble components also have increase of varying degree.Research on water-soluble constituents of selenium-rich salvia miltiorrhiza showthat, in2009field experiments, salvanic acids B of selenium intaked salviamiltiorrhiza were Significantly more than match group, four selenium intaked salviamiltiorrhiza groups were significantly different with matched group, high sprayinggroup, low spraying group were significant different with matched group(p<0.01);In2010field experiments, content in high dose group were higher than matched groupabout4.92%. High dose group was significantly different with low dosegroup(p<0.05). Within plant resistance of selenium concentration range, effect forselenium intake is proportional to the selenium intaked concentrations. the finger-printspectras of water-soluble constituent in salviae miltiorrhiza, their similarity wereabove0.80. Comparisons of the total peak area, average of the common peak totalpeak area between ordinary salvia miltiorrhiza and selenium intaked salviamiltiorrhiza, in2009field experiments, total peak areas of high spraying group, lowspraying group high discharging group, low discharging group were3.28、2.67、3.49、3.55times of matched group, common peak total peak areas were3.45、3.25、3.48、3.29times of matched group. In2010field experiments, total peak areas of high dosegroup and low dose group were in excess of36.24and99.60%, common peak totalpeak area of high spraying group and low spraying group were in excess of40.00%and102.3%. Selenium have further formation function to water-soluble ingredients insalvia miltiorrhiza. Within a certain scope, outside selenium was beneficial in growthof salvia miltiorrhiza and generation, accumulation of the effective components. The methods of hydroxyl radical clearance, superoxide radical clearance, totalreducing were used to analyse extracorporeal anti-oxidation activity of extracted compositions in salviae miltiorrhizae. Results show that, oxidation resistance ofselenium intaked salvia miltiorrhiza was better than matched group. In2009fieldexperiments, four selenium intaked salvia miltiorrhiza groups were significantlydifferent with matched group in removal rate of hydroxyl radical and total reductiveability(p<0.01), high spraying groups were significantly different with matched groupin removal rate of superoxide anion. In2010field experiments selenium intakedsalvia miltiorrhiza groups were better than matched group in removal rate of hydroxylradical, superoxide anion and total reductive ability.Study show that, selenium produce beneficial effect to salvia miltiorrhizasecondary metabolite. And enhance anti-oxidation activity of alviae miltiorrhizaeextracts. Within certain concentration range, selenium may prove active ingredientand pharmacological effects in salviae miltiorrhizae. Selenium bonded with activeingredients of salviae miltiorrhizae may produce synergistic effect.
