Abstract


Objective: To evaluate the status of family caregiver’s quality of life in patients with breastcancer; examine the correlations between the subdomains of family caregiver’s quality of life anddimensions of family functioning; explore the important predictors on subdomains to quality of life infamily functioning dimensions.Methods: A questionnaire composed of WHOQOL-BREF, Family Assessment Device (FAD) anddemographic information was used to investigate177family caregivers in galactophore department of one“AAA” hospital by using the method of cross-sectional convenience sampling. The data was analyzed bySPSS11.5descriptive statistics, t-text, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation and Stepwise multipleregression.Results:(1) Compared with nation normal model, relatives of patients had lower scores on3subscales ofWHOQOL-BREF (P<0.01).(2) The factors like education level, relationship with patients suffered from breast cancer,financial situation, work status and physical condition of family caregivers of patients with breast cancerare corrected with their quality of life.(3) There was a significant negative correlation between FAD and the score of QOL (P<0.01).(4) There was a significant negative correlation between FAD and the score of QOL (P<0.01).Six factors contributed to QOL changes, they are General Functioning, Behavior Control, Roles, AffectiveResponsiveness, Communication and Problem Solving.Conclusion: The QOL of relatives of patients with breast cancer is worse than the general people;the quality of life is related with family function. The intervention should be offered to family caregivers ofpatients with breast cancer referring to these aspects.
