Abstract

With the rapid development of the national economy, high-rise building structures are emerging in major cities, Meanwhile China is an earthquake active country, and Earthquake happened with high frequency recently. so the deep study of Performance-Based Seismic Design of high-rise building is of great significant. This paper based on the Benchmark model which is a high-rise steel structure and discussed the seismic vulnerability of uncontrol structure and the structure consided the influnce of viscous dampers failure. Mainly discussed the following three aspects:(1) In the use of finite element software OpenSees to establish the Benchmark model which is a high-rise steel structure and analyzed the dynamic properties of the structure . Introduced the Second development function and the properties of the material function of this software. At last succefully add a new material into this software. Discussed the influence of dampers’different location in the same floor affect the damage of the structure, and get the conclusion that the location of the damper will aggravate the local bending deformation of the structure.(2) In general structures, a frequently used response parameter is the maximum inter-story drift ratio(ISD) or interlayer yield intensity coefficients etc. but for high-rise buildings, the whole bending deformation take the most part of the deformation, hence the traditional damage index couldn’t reflect the real damage status of structure. In this paper an indicator called inter-story pure translation ration(ISPT) is used, which by removing the rigid body motion due to lower story rotation and the bending deformation to describe the real damage. Based on the model of high rise building ISD and ISPT both are used to describe the seismic vulnerability of structure and get the conclusion that ISPT is more suitable for the damage index as high-rise buildings. At the same time, this article also consider when the structures go into the elastic-plastic state the contribution of each floor’s damage to the whole structure damage. And get the conclusion that each floor’s damage have a large influence in the structure’s damage.(3) In general controlled structues, buildings using viscous dampers have not been subjected to very large earthquakes with intensities greater than design and maximum considered events. Furthermore, an extensive database of viscous damper performance during large seismic events does not exist. This paper focused on the viscous damper’s performance under the large earthquake and the influence to the structure damage, and get the conclusion that Viscous dampers failure could aggravate the damage of the structure.
