Abstract


The major purpose of this thesis is to survey the languageplanning for preschool children in Multi-dialect family in Tianhe districtof Guangzhou.The result indicates that family language planning differs from placeof birth, occupation, income, education background, gender, and length ofstay in GZ.When the children grow into adults in10to20years, Mandarin andCantonese will take leading place, English level will be higher. However,some dialects (southwestern especially) will be debased.Without apparent difficulty in mandarin popularization, we advisethat much has to be done in English teaching, dialects protection, as wellas instruction in family education.
