Abstract


Confucian self-cultivation thinking, as an important part of Confucianism, is apolitical ideology essentially (in nature). It puts the proprieties as the core and respect(worship) the filial piety.This thingking not only requires the officials to show decentmanners,but also requires them to enhance the inner cultivation, and especifically requestsofficials to resist the desire, not to care about the pros and cons of self-interest, but to servethe people wholeheartedly, and to have the spirit of self-sacrifice. Permeated to the officialsgovernance law, the self-cultivation thinking identified and implemented the requirementsof the officials self-cultivation in the institutional level; and meanwhile in the ideologicallevel, established the uniform values for the officials, which brought out the culture ofofficials of autonomy.In ancient China, the degree of official self-cultivation had directimpact on the governance status of officials. So Confucian self-cultivation thinking playedan important role in the governance of the ancient Chinese officials.
