Abstract

Objective:to survey Mental-health、Psychological Needs、Coping-style of Peasent-workers in Qingdao and To propose effective measures for their psychological issues.Methods:Using the stratified cluster sampling,we chosed3units from each of4districts in Qingdao city. A total of1300peasent-workers and983local-workers in these12units were asked to answer some Questionnaires. Symptom Checklist90(SCL-90) was used to survey their Mental-health; Psychological Needs Questionnaire was used to learn their psychological needs; Coping Style Questionnaire(CSQ) was used to leam the ability and manner to resolve the matters. SPSS13.0was used for data analysis.Results:1. The need for safety was preferred in the survey of Psychological Needs of Peasent-workers in Qingdao, the number of people for36.49%. Then followed by the need for selfactuation (26.37%), for respect (18.20%), for love and belongingness (11.84%), and for physiology (7.10%).2. In the survey of SCL-90, somatization, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, psychotic factors, number of positive items and total scores of the Peasent-workers wer higher than that of local workers, the difference was very significant (P<0.01); forced, hostile and paranoid ideation scores were higher than local workers, the difference was significant (P<0.05). The hostile and paranoid factor scores of manual workers were lower than those of mental workers in the Peasent-workers, the significant was difference (P<0.05); residual factor scores were lower than the mental workers, the difference was very significant (P<0.01).3. In the survey of the CSQ, Peasent-workers in the coping style of choice in problem-solving is in the largest numbers, the proportion of71.84%, followed by self-accusation (36.73%), recourse (9.96%), rationalization (6.20%), escape (5.71%) and fantasy (2.61%). Compared with the local workers, the scores of problem-solving and recourse of Peasent-workers in Qingdao city were lower, the difference was significant (P<0.05); the scores of self-accusation were higher, the difference was very significant (P <0.01); there was no significant difference amang the residual factors. Compared with manual workers, the scores of problem-solving in mental workers were higher, the difference was significant (P<0.05); the scores of fantasy, escape were lower, the difference was very significant (P<0.01); the scores of rationalization were lower, the difference was significant (P<0.05).4. The factor of problem-solving in CSQ was negatively related to the factors of somatization, obsessive symptoms, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, hostility in SCL-90, the difference is very significant (P<0.01); and it was negatively related to paranoid and psychotic factors, the difference was significant (P<0.05); terror factor showed weak negative correlation, there was no significant difference (P>0.05); the factors of self-accusation, fantasy, escape, rationalization in CSQ and the9factors in SCL-90are positively correlated, the difference is very significant (P<0.01); the factor of recourse and each factor of SCL-90were showed weak negative correlation, there was no significant difference (P>0.05).Conclusions:1. Peasent-workers’psychological demand was mainly in security needs, followed by self, respect, love and belonging, physiological needs.2. The mental health level of Peasent-workers was lower than that of local workers. The mental health level in manual workers was higher than that in mental workers.3. When dealing with the pressure and frustration, the level of understanding and ability to cope with had an insufficient degree; while the coping style of mental-workers was relatively mature. Choice of coping style affected their mental health, and their psychological health level also impacted their choice of coping styles.4. Combineing the Peasent-workers’psychological needs, according to their mental health, we should put forward toprofessional interventional recommendations from microcosmic proceed with.
