Abstract


The American women's movement is an important part of the history of the United States, covering many areas of American society, such as the historical, political, economic, cultural, and other. The women's movement has had a profound impact on the whole of American society, especially the transformation of women's lives in the United States has an important significance. This article aims to explore the second of the two branches of the power of the American women's movement: the fight for equal rights movement led by women from the National Organization for Women and the women's liberation movement by the radical feminists initiated. The first chapter analyzes while reviewing the history of the U.S. women's movement of the second movement of the occurrence of the wave. This topic of discussion around social ideology, the political atmosphere created by Kennedy School of Government, World War II, the economic and social status of women, women's education, as well as the black civil rights movement of these fronts. Chapter II second a pioneer of the women's movement organizations - the National Organization for Women. This chapter describes the establishment of the National Organization for Women and core leadership strength, to discuss the tactics of struggle, and the struggle of the content of the National Organization for Women, in particular, the efforts for the adoption of the Equal Rights Amendment. Finally, analyzed the existing problems in the process by the equal rights amendment and the reasons for the failure. Chapter III discusses women's liberation movement of the radical feminist. Which relates to the rise of radical feminism, the struggle and the struggle strategy. Specifically discuss the impact of the second women's movement initiated by the radical feminist consciousness-raising group. The fourth chapter around the two women's organizations launched major struggle topics discussed in detail. This part focused on women's right to abortion, the establishment of day-care, the issue of homosexuality, and against violence against several aspects of the discourse. The fifth chapter first discusses the ideological foundations of the two branches. Then Liberal feminism and radical feminism, the National Organization for Women and the Women's Liberation Movement compared and discussed. Concluded that despite two major forces initially there are many different, and ultimately they will still be for the same goal of gradual integration. The paper concludes that: Contemporary American women's movement, the two branches, under the guidance of their own ideas and leadership strength to fight for more equal rights for American women made a huge contribution. It is the co-existence of the two major branches of the campaign showing a richer and more extensive influence. Author in the analysis of the two branches of the movement, a new understanding of the achievements and the problems of the contemporary women's movement. Although its goal is not fully realized, but the analysis of the two major branches beneficial not only to a better understanding of contemporary American society and culture, but also has positive significance for the women's movement in China.
