China’s manufacturing industry has been relatively mature, but the solar industry is an emerging industry, the production of household solar energy water heater has become an emerging industry in manufacturing industry, it hasn’t got so great progress until the last decade. In overall terms, compared to traditional industries, its management level is relatively backward, due to late start, professional, automated equipment is relatively insufficient, it is still not perfect in all aspects. Only in the view of production field, there are still many unreasonable arrangement on equipment, layout, logistics methods and operating methods. There are many places that need to be improved in the action and handling, quality and safety aspects.For the above problem, this paper takes Linuo-Paradigma solar energy water heater manufacturer as an example, study the rationality of its production layout and improve. First, the paper describes related theoretical knowledge of industrial engineering, gives a brief of findings in layout optimization and work study; Secondly, this article describes the company’s production status, including the status of the production line, processing, equipment layout; Third, make a detailed plant layout analysis, research problems, and other factors; Finally, design an improved program for analyzed problems identified for the status quo to, and improvement of production efficiency, quality and reliability, then evaluate the program in security and reliability, the overall economy and so on.In our country, there are just a few industrial engineering research subjects on solar energy water heater manufacturing industry, the innovation of this paper is that for the first time it applied the basic industrial engineering and technology to the manufacturing process of solar water heaters, especially the layout optimization techniques, and has made good results.
