In recent years,due to increased car ownership and traffic volume increased,the frequency of traffic accidents is also increasing.It brings great threat to zhe people’s lives and has brought huge losses to the country’s development.Safe drivingn is now a major issue of traffic safety.Violation driving is the main reason for traffic accidents in China,including overload,overweigh,fatigue driving and overtaking.Therefore,the transportation management is now thinking about the question that how to constrain the behavior of the driver’s bad driving to make sure the safety of driving.Vehicle traveling data recorder is a digital electronic device which can pick and save speed,time,mileage,driver information and other data.The use of equipment has a great significance on bounding bad driving behavior and the prevention of illegal traffic.The main content of this article is to study and design an ARM-based vehicle traveling data recorder with GPS and GPRS.This paper introduces the research background and the subject of research status at home and abroad.Then describe the overall concept of this design and the overall design.Then this article describes the various functional modules of the program and the details about the program and the components of the selection process to determine.It describs in detail the characteristics of major features,functions,schematic design and the PC development,debugging methods,debugging tools software design of each functional moudule.In the system test unit, software and hardware testing process were described,while the problems appeared in the process of debugging software and hardware problems are discussed.There is a conclusion for the functions and features of the system,while the next step and the vehicle traveling data recorder in the future development trends are discussed.
