The sport management major which was borned in the produced the demand for sports practice. It formed a complete system of major from the development of nearly a hundred years. In this period of rapid sport development, it has become an important issue in the sports management field, which is summing up historical experience, clearing the influencing factors formation and promoting the development of sports management major.With the methods of the literature, expert interviews, statistics and logical analysis, this paper studied the the development of the sport management major, the conclusions as follows:1. According the study of the history of the sports management, this paper divided the Chinese sports management into:associated birh phase; the diffusion stage; embryonic stage; Calls upon the reconstruction phase; formation and development phase.2.sport management professional education formed the three professional directions (including the management of public utilities, tourism management and sports industry) and three levels (including undergraduate, master’s, Ph.D.), which reflected characteristics in coordination with the sport management practice and the demand for qualified personnel. Compared with foreign countries, Chinese sport management professional curriculum was still unreasonable, curriculum structure and course content needed to be improved, personnel training existed oversupply and shortage problems co-exist.3. The amount of sport management academic achievements were more and more, which topics focus on the administration and macro-management. The academic team was formed. However the sports management major was lack of the academic boutique and important projects, lack of research theories and methods, academic organizations, high-level academic platform, academic activities, and the academic team structure is irrational.4. The influencing factors of the sport management,major is divided into historical factors (political, economic, cultural, sports, science, technology and globalization) and logical factors (theoretical system, professional education and scientific research), the corresponding weight:scientific research (24.03%), sports (20.79%), the theoretical system (20.27%), economy (11.66%), political (8.79%) professional education (5.7%), science and technology (3.23%), culture (3.19%), globalization (2.34%).According to the above conclusions, the recommendations are:Firstly, we should strenghen the research work on sports management, connect closely with China’s sports undertakings, complete the theoretical system of sports management, deepen the subdiscipline of sports management, rationally use of the favorable impact of economy, politicy, culture, globalization, science and technology factors. Secondly, we should strengthen the sports management profession education, scientifically set the profession, improve the profession quality, strengthening the struction of the teaching staff, play the advantages of interdiscipiinary, carry cut the community service. Thirdly, we should integrate the management major research team, complete the academic organizations, structure the sports management academic platform, create a number of sports management academic quality and significant results.
