The dim target detection technology in the complex image background has great significance, which the using range of applications is so wide. With the rapid development of microelectronic technology, the dim target detection technology has got unprecedented progress in the complex image processing, which nowadays mainly is used for the low target’s signal to clutter noise ratio in neighbor. These dim target detection technologies can be used in the strong background noise or other interference, and the size of the target is small and the targets are not obvious in the complex image. With the rapid development of national economy, more and more dim moving target detection technology are applyed to many parts of the national industry, which has greatly significant economic value. Whether in the using of military or civilian, the dim moving target detection technology in complex image has become a promising research topic of today’s technology.The dim target detection technology in the complex image are mainly dicided into background clutter suppression and the dim target detection in the residual images. The dim target detection technology in the complex image background clutter suppression techniques are mainly divided into spatial filtering background clutter suppression techniques, frequency filtering background clutter suppression technology, background clutter suppression technology based on wavelet transform and background clutter suppression technology based on mathematical morphology filtering. Many different background clutter suppression techniques have in common is that calculating the the background clutter of the input image, and then minus the background clutter by the original image, so the residual image contains the dim targets information, which can make the dim targets highlighted. The main content is as follows:First, in this paper we analyze the task, design the system and performance evaluation indicators of the dim moving target detection technology in the complex image background clutter suppression techniques, finish experimental simulation system, compare the existing different techniques. Then according to the discrete fourier transform and wavelet transform analysis, we propose the methods which background clutter suppression technique based on the DFT, the technique based on wavelet domain DFT, the technique based on discrete wavelet transform low frequency sub band filtering and the technique based on multi-scale wavelet transform, compared with the technique based on spatial filtering background clutter suppression, the technique based on the DCT, and the technique based on wavelet domain DFT through the experimental simulation, at last get the advantage of our proposed techniques compared with other techniques.
