The present paper takes 379 pieces of thesis published between 2000 and 2009 from 13 key domestic PE(physical education)periodicals as the research objects,which include Journal of Beijing Sport University,Journal of Tianjin Sport University, Journal of Chengdu Sport University, Journal of Guangzhou Sport University, Journal of Shandong Sport University, Journal of Shanghai Sport University,Sports Science, Journal of Sports and Science Journal of Physical Education etc. With literature metrology as the methodology, it aims to carry on analysis from the perspective of their quotations, research methodology, author,content and so on.It digs into the primary features and rules, displays the literature with significant influence and then points out the existing problems and development trend, thus laying theoretical foundation for the research development of volleyball arts. Through this research, we can find that the number of literature on volleyball arts has been decreasing year by year. Papers on volleyball arts have made extensive use of the research methods of modern PE science. While there have been more papers that involve comprehensive research methods, single method still takes the lion’s share. Volleyball academic papers in the content distribution mainly concentrates in the training of competition and teaching research respectively 41 percent,23%, sociology, basic science and other fields of research achievements amount little. The biggest paper citation fixed number of year is in the papers published the first 3 years, the half-life 6.343 years, attenuation coefficient for for 48.87%. The novelty of the thesis references is low, service life is long, literature aging at a slower speed. Scientific research team of information consciousness and absorptive capacity overall level is not high, foreign language, using foreign intelligence quoted less ability is not high. Has the lecturer and associate professor title, master degree or above in young and middle-aged professional teachers is the volleyball research the dominant force, sports colleges and universities are the main research institutions, volleyball kernel authors such as too few quantity is still in the preliminary formation. Periodicals with primary influence include in the ranking of importance China Sport Science and Technology, Journal of Beijing University of Physical Education, Journal of Xi’an University of Physical Education, Journal of Shanghai University of Physical Education, Journal of Tianjin University of Physical Education, Journal of Guangzhou University of Physical Education, etc. The mostrecognizable researchers are in turn Gaiyang, Meng Fansheng, Gu Weinong, etc.
