Abstract

Software defined radio (SDR) has been the trend of the development of current andfuture radio. Compared with the traditional radio, SDR has many advantages, such asreconfigurability, programmability and modularization. SDR completes various radiofunctions by way of software development based on the universal hardware, so it canshorten development cycle and reduce development cost.As the core technology of the new generation communication system, Multi-antennacan improve the channel capacity and spectrum efficiency without increasing thesystem’s bandwidth and antenna transmit power. But now,(1) The existing verification platforms use traditional radio technology mostly, andthey do not take full advantage of SDR;(2) The research platform abroad is expensive and affects the research of relevantinstitutions. Therefore, this thesis selects space-time block coding (STBC), a typicalmulti-antenna waveform, to be developed on the USDR platform, and the specificmeasures are as follows:Firstly, we analyze the requirements of the STBC waveform. The paper budgets thelink in the application scene of indoor visible environment, and the transmission rate, bandwidth, demodulation threshold and other technical targets are determined under thecondition. We also analyze the feasibility about the communication distance andtransmission power.Secondly, the key algorithms for data transmission of the waveform are put forward. To ensure that the data can be correctly transmitted and received, we study channelestimation, time-frequency synchronization as well as up and down conversionaccording to the requirements. Then, we design the frame structure and simulate theperformance of each module. The result is that channel estimation brings about1dBdeterioration, and up and down conversion brings about0.4dB deterioration. Comparedwith the desired simulation result, the overall program deterioration is about1.7~1.9dB.Lastly, the waveform is put into implement and tested by the design. The paperdescribes the function and structure of the sending and receiving ends. It also designsthe process of key modules. Transmission rate and bit error rate are tested during thetesting process. The results show that the data transmission rate is about191.5kbps, andthe SNR deterioration is about3dB. The test results meet the requirements. In this paper, we design and implement the21STBC waveform. This waveformcan be used for teaching experiment and provide actual verification platform formulti-antenna technology research. This waveform gives reference for other morecomplex waveform to be developed on USDR platform, and will further promote research institutions’ study on software defined radio technology.
