Abstract

Wireless location technology is more and more important with the rapid development of wireless mobile communication techniques. Time of arrival(TOA)and Time difference of arrival(TDOA)methods are two main methods in wireless location, thus how to get accurate TOA measurements is a key factor to realize high accuracy mobile location. This paper mainly deals with the time delay of arrival estimation algorithms in wireless location system. Firstly, the paper briefly introduces the situation and development status of the technology of the wireless location, shows the necessity of researching on TOA,elaborates the past and the current trend of research on TOA,analyzes the TOA estimation algorithms based on the traditional PN based sequence and continuous wave phased signal, Suming up the advantages of using the OFDM signal as a TOA estimating signal.and then, Based on the characteristics of OFDM sinals in time-domain and frequency-domain, the paper proposes a algorithms of TOA which can avoid the phase ambiguity, analyzes the the Cramer-Rao bound of TOA estimation based on the theory of Parameter estimation and the theory of signal detection and estimation.Further, this paper presents an in-depth investigation of frequency-domain super-resolution time-of-arrival (TOA) estiman for wireless loacation. A methodology for performance evaluation of super-resolution techniques based on the measurements of indoor radio propagtion channels is presented. According to the channel estimation of OFDM signals, presents super-resolution algorithm of TOA estimation based on MUSIC algorithm, analyzes the factors which affects the Accuracy of TOA estimation. In order to Improve the ranging accuracy, the paper also proposes a new ranging method in the space based on maximum likelihood algorithm. Furthermore, the TOA estimation algorithms for wireless channel are discussed. According to the principle of maximum likelihood algorithm,an iterative TOA estimation method is proposed, and the range of TOA estimation is highly improved. The method is not sensitive to timing error and Can highly improve the TOA estimation performance.
