Abstract


With the developments in the technology of telecommunication and the Internet and devices, there are two main trends currently-mobilization and socializing. However, in the field of streaming media, most services are based on wired devices. It is common that users have to sit in front of a computer to watch videos, especially live videos. To solve this problem, this paper mainly discusses the research and implements of a mobile real-time video system. The system designed in this paper enables users to publish their own live videos and view videos of others with their mobile devices, such as mobile phones, pads and so on. It intends to realize to mobilize and socialize the multimedia services. This system contains a media server which handles live streams using RTMP(Real-Time Messaging Protocol), mobile devices with a Flex client application on them and a web server which used to deal with HTTP requests. This paper will introduce the design and implements of the client application and the server, the framework of streaming media system, video encoding/decoding and transmission, and some other relevant discussion.This research is from a project named "the environment of interactive teaching for self-learning and online education", which is a sub-topic of a twelfth five-year topic named "Smart Broadband campus network".This paper mainly discusses the research and implementation of the video system based on mobile devices. Firstly, the paper introduces the status quo of the developments in this field. Then the paper explains how the system is implemented gradually by needs analysis, designing and programming. This system is primarily designed to enrich the methods of mobile learning, to change the way that student can learn, and to mobilize teaching. Besides the utilization in education, the system can be widely used in many other fields.
