Abstract

The analysis and testing of the fuze startup characteristics is an important job for design of the proximity fuze. Calculation of radar fuze target’s scattering characteristics is an important method for theoretical calculation of the fuze burst characteristics. The calculated results affect the efficiency of fuze-warhead coordination directly. So the research of radar fuze target’s scattering characteristics is very important. Because of the particularity of radar fuze targets, such as, body effect, local irradiation etc, if more accurate results of the RCS is wanted to get, the details of the target’s geometry must be described accurately. First of all, this paper focuses on the modeling of the target geometry, and then on the basis of consideration of the specular scattering, the edge diffraction, multiple scattering, the RCS of radar fuze targets are calculated. The concrete work is as follows:(1)Some of the commonly used radar fuze targets are modeled based on CATIA and AutoCAD3D modeling software by the method of solid modeling and NURBS modeling. The advantages and disadvantages of both3D modeling software are compared. And the file format of them is analyzed. Combined with the influence of the target’s detail and the development of RCS calculation methods, CATIA3D modeling software is choiced to describe the target geometry.(2)Physical Optics and the improved method of equivalent currents are adopted to calculate the RCS of cube, ball and flat. The accuracy of the algorithm this thesis used is verified by contrast with the actual measurement results. The analysis of the results of the cruise missiles proves that the RCS of any complex goal can be calculated by the algorithm this thesis used while the model is saved as STL. The results obtained with CATIA modeling and AutoCAD modeling are compared and analyzed. The superiority of the CATIA modeling is illustrated further.(3)Area projection/physical optics method is finally chosen to calculate the multiple scattering after comparing several multiple scattering algorithms. Some problems of the area projection/physical optics method, such as polygon intersection, blanking processing, are solved. The correctness of the algorithm is verified by the calculation of secondary scattering of the angle reflection. Take facet contribution, edge diffraction and secondary scattering into consideration, the total scattering field of the cruise missiles is geted. It proves that the algorithm this thesis used is effective. Finally the phenomenon of local irradiation is considered. The RCS of moving targets are calculated in the presence of local irradiation. (4)Based on the target’s data in the STL file is extracted through programming. And then surface element information, edge information and the surface element that can produce multiple scattering is sorted in the txt file, so as to provide the data for radar fuze target’s calculation. Then the software for calculation of radar fuze target scattering characteristics is developed. The scattering characteristics of radar fuze target is calculated and analyzed. The RCS calculation results are basically consistent with the exact analytical solutions or the actual measurement results, and the feasibility of the modeling method and algorithm this thesis used is verified.
