Abstract

Represented by Global Positioning System (GPS), Global Navigation SatelliteSystem (GNSS) has been gradually becoming a global, multi-area, high-tech industry. As the critical components in GNSS receiver, Radio frequency (RF) front-end’sdevelopment and industrialization are important for establishing a complete and perfectGNSS industry chain of our country.Global Navigation Satellite System are now developing from traditional receiver ofsingle-frequency, single-mode to multi-channel, multi-mode compatible, combinedpositioning, low power dissipation and high linearity for the requirement ofhigh-precision and real-time navigating application, which are more reliable, stable andsecure for positioning under the hard natural condition, such as: urban canyons, indoorand bad weather. As a result, researching of multi-mode compatible GNSS receiver andlow power RF front-end are of great significance. The architecture of the RF receiver and the GNSS receiver are researched in thispaper, the system architecture of the dual-channel multi-mode GNSS receiver arepromoted and critical circuit RF blocks are designed in detail. Finally, the detailexperiment results are given. The results demonstrate that: the RF front-end of GNSSreceiver achieves the performance of low noise, low power and compatibility ofmulti-mode, the RF receiver obtain better navigation and positioning effects when theRF receiver and baseband processing module docked successfully. With the development of the CMOS RF technology, the research hot spots of RFIChas turned to the design of low frequency medical chip, high frequency receiver, lowpower dissipation and high linearity RF blocks. Based on the research of critical RFblocks (Low noise amplifier(LNA), Mixer, voltage controlled oscillator(VCO) and highspeed prescaler) in dual-channel multi-mode GNSS receiver, some research hot spots ofthe RF circuit such as: low noise mixer, self oscillate mixer and low noise self-oscillatemixer are deeply researched to lower the power dissipation and cut down the cost. Anexplore design of X band RF front end under the process of CMOS technology are alsogiven.Based on the research mentioned formally, a low noise self-oscillate mixerwhich adopts the technology of current reuse is designed in this paper. The designparameters: such as conversion gain, noise figure, phase noise and some critical designparameters are analyzed. Finally, the layout design and experiment results are given, theexperiement results demonstrated that: every design parameter meets the design requirements. This work makes solid foundation for the following productively of RFfront-end which have low power dissipation, highly integration and high linearity.Based on the above research result, a design method of power amplifier mixer whichused in the transmitter is given.Under the process of0.18μm CMOS technology, a design of X-band front-endgiven in this paper and the experiment results are presented, this work laid foundationfor the microwave RF transceiver under CMOS process. Finally, against the researchhot spots of CMOS integration circuits, we make a prospection for the design of lowpower, low noise and low frequency medical chip.
