The emergence of Mobile Agent technology for information retrieval provides a new research direction. It combines artificial intelligence and distributed computing technology, is a new distributed computing technology. In information retrieval using Mobile Agent technology, you can retrieve the user’s request to move to the production of more than one Mobile Agent on the remote information provider, and simultaneous analysis of local information, and then through the network to transmit the information users really need to come back. Therefore, the previous information search systems, Mobile Agent-based information retrieval system to reduce network communication overhead, saving bandwidth, load balancing, to speed up the execution of tasks, thereby improving the processing efficiency of the system.In this thesis, Agent and Mobile Agent technology has been briefly summarized the background of Mobile Agent technology and current research status.Focuses on the Aglet Mobile Agent development platform and programming mechanism, and thus the application of Mobile Agent technology, proposed a model of information retrieval systems and analyzes the composition of the various modules and their relationship:The system includes a client, data server, registration server, communications server, servers, etc. dock five modules, each module of the function is defined, more than a few modules and a detailed design and implementation, given the corresponding prototype system. Finally, the system’s shortcomings, the direction of further improvement.Mobile Agent-based information retrieval system to reduce network communication overhead, saving bandwidth, load balancing, thereby improving the processing efficiency of the system.
