Along with the reform and opening up going more deeply, Enterprises are required to improve their management quality,the origin extensive manual management for Casting Enterpris can’t meet the demand of modern business management.Thus,in order to meet the demand of modern market economics,it is necessary to develop a set of practical and advanced management information service for its own characteristics of Foundry Enterpris, which can improve business environment, reduce the manufacture costs, improve enterprise competitiveness.the Management Information System in compounding department of the Casting Enterpris is Based on C/S Architecture,using SQL Server2000database for the background,and Visual Basic6.0for the client, it covers the areas of the ingredients in all business, optimizes information management of the enterprise, increases productivity and enterprises’benefit.This paper describes the full development process of the casting enterprise’s MIS,which includes requirement analysis,system structure,conceptual design,logic design for database, and the function designs.In the requirement analysis,this paper analyzes the business process of compounding department of the casting enterprises,which determine the system’s functional requirements and overall structure; this paper also translates the information collected in the requirement analysis into the Entity-Relationship Diagrams.then designs the system database based on them.Finally, according to process-oriented design principles, the system is divided into four modules of inventory management, project management, site management, system management, and describes the specific functions of each module and the key techniques to realization.This system to the database as the core manages workshop data scientificly and effectively, using C/S architecture. This system has many functions such as maintain order, make production planning,specifications management,charge ratio calculated automatically,batching scheme automatically, feedback locale’s information real-time, castings and raw materials inventory tracking, information’s comprehensive statistical query, modify, rights management.The system has eliminated the single islands of information in workshops and departments, improved the sharing and integrity ability, played an important role in controling of costs, standardizing the management of workshop and guiding business decisions.which has realized the information management of the workshop, and layed the foundation for the construction of the whole factory information,it has value of reference.
