Abstract

In the process of biochemical reactions, many, such as: the bacterial suspension contain a variety of microorganisms, microbial activity, biomass concentration, pH value, circulating fluid flow, temperature and other factors affect the efficiency of biochemical reactions. Among these factors, the concentration of biomass is an important process parameters to achieve its online measurement of extremely important to understand the process of biochemical reactions, achieve their online monitoring. The complexity and uncertainty of these parameters in the process of biochemical reactions, led to the difficulties of the process mechanism and process optimization and control. Paper proposes using fiber Bragg grating (FBG) refractive index sensing technology online measurement of the concentration of biomass, biomass concentration with temperature compensation function online measurement sensing principle theoretical model, elimination of temperature changes on the sensing system the impact. The main findings are as follows: (1) a FBG refractive index sensor line measurement of biomass concentration. After corrosion to a certain extent by the grating, the effective refractive index of the propagation mode will be affected by the change in refractive index of outside contact material affect this theory, the changes in the amount of drift of the Bragg wavelength, and the biomass concentration. (2) on the basis of FBG sensing theory, design, the biomass concentration online measurement sensor, the sensor design theory and method of making, and corrosion experiments produced different grating diameter FBG refractive index sensor, won different concentration of HF solution of the corrosion rate of the fiber cladding. (3) the theoretical analysis and experimental research FBG refractive index sensor and the relationship between the refractive index of the chemical solution, the experimental results show that: the amount of drift of the Bragg wavelength is increasing with the increase of the refractive index of the surrounding, and between having good correspondence relationship, in having a good linear relationship between the low concentration and high concentration having a nonlinear relationship. (4) According to the FBG refractive index sensor in a low refractive index zone, between the drift amount of the Bragg wavelength of the refractive index and surrounding this characteristic of the linear relationship, the sensor for measuring the biomass concentration (low refractive index) changes. (5) The theoretical analysis of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) biosensors in the refractive index of the low refractive index region sensing principle to establish the temperature compensation model to eliminate the impact of temperature changes on the sensor. The design and production of a single-ended corrosion FBG biosensor for measuring the refractive index at the same time and temperature, and calibration the corrosion area and the temperature and the refractive index sensitivity of the unetched region respectively. The experimental results show that single end, eliminating the influence of temperature corrosion FBG biosensor, the drift amount of the Bragg wavelength with yeast the refractive index increases, and a linear relationship. Sensor yeast refractive index relative error between the sensitivity to its calibration value of 1.45%. Improved sensors can effectively eliminate the influence of the temperature change on the biomass concentration measurement system.
