Traditional locks, security doors, and alarm systems have many shortcomings since there’re always problems like it is inconvenient to carry keys, the password can be easily cracked and the device is easy to lose. Accuracy, security and real-time of the authentication is put forward higher requirements. Thus, the biometric identification technology for accessing control systems comes out. Face recognition as a kind of biometric identification technology is the most intuitive form of identification method. It is direct, friendly, convenient, economic and reliable. The face recognition technology in recent years has become an international hotspot, with important research and practical value.Embedded face recognition access control system for its non-contact data acquisition, concealment, convenient, easy to later follow-ups and other advantages has become one of the most popular research topics in current research and practical engineering applications. In this thesis, it uses DM6437as an embedded development platform. Designs and implement an access control system based on face recognition technology. It includes algorithms design, the configuration of the hardware platform and the design and implementation of software system platform. The system uses the Face Detection algorithm based on skin color. To improve the effect of skin color detection, a large number of experiments and analysis are taken rid many factors that affect the skin color detection. Consequently, it gets a better test result. Face recognition using PCA-based face recognition methods. In order to reduce the impact of the recognition rate due to the image acquisition to light differences, the sample library pictures, and to be recognized face images are preprocessed to improve the recognition rate. This thesis discusses the structure of the video processing subsystem and memory configuration of the hardware platform in order to achieve the system design requirements. For the design of the system on software, this thesis uses FVID model to achieve video driver. This thesis configures memory map and schedule tasks with DSP/BIOS which is a real-time OS. It interfaces each module with DM6437on software.
