Abstract

The global IPv4address had been fully distributed in2011. As the core of the next generation of the Internet, IPv6walks onto the stage of history. IPv6technology uses a new network concept, providing almost infinite address space, and improving the network security, scalability, mobility and quality of service. With ten-year efforts of global network experts, IPv6technology is quite mature, hardware equipment has been able to be mass produced for several years. In addition, the number of its labs and users has been raised. The function of IPv6protocol is powerful. However, lack of directly compatible with IPv4protocol makes it unable to quickly replace IPv4. Two types of network technology will coexist for a long term. The most important thing for the transition is to make the rational choice of transition plans, which interconnect IPv4network with IPv6network, as well as smoothly transfer from IPv4to IPv6completely.This paper proposes whether the network have a strong vitality, depending on the network’s connectivity and quality of sevice. In this paper, the QoS and IPv6technology, transition technology including the dual stack technology, tunnel technology and conversion technology are introduced and analyzed, and NAT-PT technology is emphatically analyzed. These several technologys are implemented in the laboratory. By using NAT-PT technology unique advantages, innovative constructs a double NAT-PT model to realize a new function and perfects the ability of NAT-PT. At the same time of realizing these several transition technologys in the experimental environment, we test and compare and analyze configuration complexity, connectivility and QoS about these transition technology. The paper introduces some rational proposals which are valuable to be popularized for NAT-PT technology and designs a supporting server which will help IPv6’s smooth transitionFinally, the paper summarizes the work and discusses the future.
