Library is the documental information center of College and University, and it isthe academic organization that supplys serveics for teaching and research, and it is theimportant base of campus informatization and society informatization. As theprofessional information service organization in College and university, library has onits shoulders the most tasks of the entire campus informatization and informationservice. Its service level and service quality directly affects the overall level of highschool development. The work flow of traditional college and university library is astraight line model based on literature processing, along with the information andnetwork technology widely used, library resources’ digitization is becoming more andmore popular. In the face of information users which are high-quality, high culturelevel, high academic research ability, high-level information demand, the weakness oftraditional library work flow needs to be changed urgently for its slow reaction to theinformation demand, delayed response, rough information processing and providing.Based on analyzing three different development stages that are traditional library,compound library, digital library, under the guidance of work flow managementphilosophy, by using documents conclusion and analysis, case study, expertconsultation and other research method, this paper points out that traditional librarywork flow can not adapt to modern library development seriously, and it must beimperative. Through analyzing present business process reengneering of collegelibrary, and being bult on relevant research, this paper explains the meaning, goal,necessity and feasibility of library business process reengineering. Refering to theemergent management ideas and theories in library in resent years, such as theenterprise knowledge management, learning organization construction, projectmanagement and so on, this paper analyzes the core of library business processreengineering in college and university, including business process evolution process,comparison of business process types, transformation of literature business process,innovation of information business process. Finally, this paper puts forword thesafeguard mechanism that must be equipped with in business process implementing,such as guarantee of operating departments, optimization of labour organization,construction of technology platform, scientific construction of recombinant processand after the reorganization of the full implementation of performance management,which can provide certain reference for the library business process reengineering.
