Abstract


The genealogy is one of the most characterful type of archives in China. The main content of it is to record the history of a family or a clan. Research on genealogy is always an important subject in the field of Chinese archives. Today, because of many kinds of conditions, compared with other kinds of archives such as science archives,technology archives, and accounting archives, researches on genealogy archives are always lack.The Mu family became the dominator of Lijiang in the early years of Yuan dynasty. Mu’s govern in Lijiang lasted for more than470years, continues to the first year of Yongzheng in the middle of Qing dynasty. The genealogy of Lijiang Mu family, not only contains the heritage of official position, the detailed biography, but also records the development history of the Lijiang.This article select the genealogy of Mu family as the research object, carry on the comprehensive review as the main research point of view. On the basis of this, put forward some ideas for its development and utilization. In addition to the introduction, this paper consists of five parts:Part One:Firstly, introduce the concept of the genealogy, and pick out the genealogy from the literature about the Mu family. Then classify the genealogy which was picked out. Lastly, briefly introduce three of the most important genealogy.Part Two:Analysis the features of genealogy of Mu family, using the method of comparative analysis. Through the comparing with general genealogy, came out to the general character of the genealogy of Mu family. Then compared with other three kinds of genealogy, reach the personality of the genealogy of Mu family.Part Three:Summarizes the five primary coverage of the genealogy of Mu family, including the names, preface, biography, ancestry and the pictures of their ancestors with the praise.Part Four:Introduce the influence of historical environment in the formation of the genealogy of Mu family. The historical environment can be divided into favorable circumstances and adversity, then analyse the difference in content, task, function of the genealogy of Mu family which forms in the two opposite environment.Part Five:Introduce the function of the genealogy of Mu family. Including the functions in the feudal society and the current function, then points out the limitations of the genealogy of Mu family as historical archives.Part Five:Combining with the present social environment, put forward some ideas to the utilization of the genealogy of Mu family, hope that the genealogy of Mu family can benefit more aeras.
