Abstract


In the grim situation with climate becoming warm, environment being polluted and resource and energy scarcity, low-carbon economy has become one of the main themes of the development of the world economy. In order to improve the competitiveness of the international logistics industry in China and ensure the sustained and rapid development of the international logistics industry in China, firstly this paper introduces the characteristics and development trends of international logistics on the context of low-carbon economy. Then from many aspects the author elaborates the development status and problems of the international logistics industry in China. Based on the problems she puts forward the corresponding strategies, and hopes to contribute to the development of our international logistics industry.The paper is divided into seven parts. The first part is the introduction, including research background and significance, related research summarize of domestic and international. The second part describes the related concept of low-carbon economy and international logistics. And this part specifically addresses the theoretical basis for the development of international logistics in the context of low-carbon economy on the basis of the theory of externalities, and explains its no-economic-performance to environment combined with the operation links in the international logistics business. The third part gives a brief description of the course of development of the international logistics and shows their status in some typical developed countries. Moreover this shows the international logistics in the context of low-carbon economy has some characteristic, such as there are more differences on the environment, the risk is higher, transport operation requires higher standard, and international applicability of the rules of the game etc. At the same time she points out the low-carbon logistics, green logistics, reverse logistics development, third-party logistics market, information technology of management in the international logistics and other trends. The fourth part elaborates the status of the international logistics industry in China on the transport, shipping logistics, equipments, information technology of logistics, logistics costs, the construction of international logistics standardization and the growth of professional logistics companies. The fifth part shows the problems of our country’s international logistics from ten aspects, which includes the overall competitiveness, efficiency of international logistics, development policy regimes, regional development, information technology, standardization, the construction of laws and regulations, the level of third-party logistics development, talents training and operation of transportation and warehousing. The sixth part points out the solutions. The main strategies are as following:upgrading the international logistics industry, changing the industrial structure, strengthening system reform and policy implement, giving more support to the Mid and West of China, actively developing the third-party logistics and training independent international logistics brands, enhancing information system utilization and creating regional international logistics information platform, accelerating the process of international logistics’ standardization, promoting economic legislation of China’s low-carbon logistics, strengthening talents training and improving the management of transport and storage. The seventh part concludes that with so many problems, China’s international logistics industry’s huge potential can’t be ignored. She will obtain the new advantage and keep continuous and healthy in the competition of low-carbon economy.Overall, this paper is mainly written on the basis of consulting a large number of documents. Because the range is a little wider, the author hasn’t discussed all the aspects of the topic and just chooses some that she is familiar or that she thinks important. Moreover, the data collected is very limited, so the author doesn’t make any empirical analysis and only leaves lots of text. But the author put low-carbon economy and China’s international logistics together, this kind of research is scarce. The author consulted a large number of relevant literatures, but found that many scholars researched only China’s logistics under the background of low-carbon economy, with few about China’s international logistics. China’s international logistics can effectively promote the development of the domestic logistics, and at the same time clearly point out the development direction of logistics industry in our country and improve the overall competitiveness of Chinese logistics industry. And this will have a positive effect on the development of our third industry and the realization of the sustainable society. At the same time, the author hopes this will draw the experts and scholars’attention on China’s international logistics on the context of low-carbon economy to some extent.
