Abstract


As people’s living standard and life quality improves, after a busy day’s work, people longs to find a relatively comfortable place to rest-- public recreation thus becomes a hot public topic. The leisure seat in recreational space is focus of the whole design, thus I have done research on this theme, so as to offer reference for designers.This paper mainly uses the design method and removes the subjective opinions; only based on the natural laws of seats design and searches for the relations between human being, seats in recreational space and the environment. Firstly, it analyses the philosophy of the seat designer and their participation and influence on the design, from the designing purpose perspective. Secondly, it begins with the seat itself, analyses the reason and development rules of raw material of quality and texture and selection process, and discusses their influence on the seat design’s final form and style; and also how seats have changed as people’s aesthetic trend changes. Thirdly, considering recreational space system, it searches the relations between leisure seats, the environment and the society. It proposes seats in recreational space are not only to blend into nature environment, but also to reflect the city’s culture, making it a regional cultural feature, and a showcase and epitome of our technological achievements and spirit of the time.Finally, the paper takes Rain Lake Park as an example, through extensive investigation on the natural environment, local culture, urban characteristics and tourists travel situation, proposes some creative design concepts. It puts forward three sets of local natural and cultural features with the leisure seats, so the theory comes from practice and to is applied to practice in the end.
