Abstract


Corporate banking is the banking business provided to corporate clients by a commercial bank, as opposed to individual retail business, wholesale business. Corporate banking includes assets business, liabilities business and intermediate business. In the whole process of China’s banking industry corporate banking plays a key role and it is directly related to the survival and development for commercial banks in China.From the founding to the early eighties, China’s banking business has the obvious characteristics of the planned economy. Since 1994 the financial system of China has been comprehensively promoted. China’s overall banking system was rebuilt. It began the reform process of commercialization. Corporate banking has had comprehensive, standardized and scientific developed. It has gradually focused on products, services and management system innovation and showed a rapid growth. Starting from the beginning of China’s corporate banking, this article traces its development process, analyzes the characteristics of corporate banking development in each period, results and problems of today’s commercial corporate banking development in China facing the new situation, and the new trend of western commercial corporate banking development, so that we can only speed up the innovation in order to achieve the sustainable development of our corporate banking. Based on these analyses, this article proposes that we should focus on the market positioning and business strategies, strength the innovations of products services and institutional arrangements. Meanwhile the innovations should closely follow the international and domestic economic and financial situation, learn from western commercial banks and establish the suitable risk management system.
