Abstract


Sustainable development of resource-based cities is the subject of many economists study , and is also a representative of the problem . The achievement of sustainable development is a common development path chosen by the world today , national scholars are actively seeking ways of achieving sustainable development . This paper argues that science and technology has increasingly become the main driving force to promote economic development , especially in scientific and technological innovation has become an important factor to affect the pattern of changes in the industrial structure and regional competition , cultivate and improve the scientific and technological innovation ability is an important way to achieve sustainable development . As an industrial center and an important industrial base in China , one of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region , in the background of the large-scale development of the western region , with a strong industrial base and resource advantages , to achieve sustainable development is the most important development issues facing Baotou City . Under the guidance of the theory of sustainable development , scientific and technological innovation as the driving force to enhance the sustainable development capacity of Baotou City , for the promotion of the city 's comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable development , to build a prosperous , stable and harmonious Baotou City has great significance . In this paper, based on the theory of sustainable development , sustainable development evaluation system ; evaluation index system as principal component analysis method to evaluate the capacity for sustainable development in Baotou City ; analysis of Baotou City, the advantages of sustainable development exist disadvantage and the opportunities and challenges facing ; Perspective Finally , technology innovation , and policy recommendations on the sustainable development of the economic subsystem , social subsystem , resources and environment subsystems . The paper selected from 2000 to 2007, some of the economic indicators for analysis , and that the strong capacity for sustainable development in Baotou City , the huge potential , with strong comprehensive competitiveness .
