With the rapid development of China’s rural economy, rural land presents a substantialchange, and more frequent and diversified update. As a result, the traditional cadastralmapping software can no longer meet the needs of the rural cadastral mapping at present,which causes troublesome ownership investigation and slow mapping process. In order tobring into full play the economic and social benefits of land resources, we shall conductefficient, accurate, and timely mapping of land resources. Therefore, it is very important toestablish a scientific, efficient, and standardized rural cadastral digital mapping system.This paper has firstly presented the domestic and overseas research status of digitalmapping software in a systematic manner, and discussed such shortages of existing ruralcadastral digital mapping software as low mapping efficiency, limited combination of vectordata and raster data, deficient spatial analysis function, slow update speed, and lack ofstandard and norms in system construction, and blindness in the system development, etc.,and finally affirmed the necessity of the research subject and the importance of establishing arural cadastral digital mapping software featuring complete functions, convenient operation,efficient mapping, and flexible output.Taking the rural land property right reform as the background, combining suchcharacteristics as pattern description of land resources, etc., and based on3S land surveytechnology, ArcGIS Engine technology, component-based GIS technology, and land changetechnology, this paper makes an in-depth demand analysis on the system, and conducts datamanagement through the Geodatabase data model. In addition, this paper takes ArcGISEngine as a platform to make research on such operations in the mapping process as datarunning, element editing, layer management, graphic plotting, print output, and exit, etc., andforms a set of mapping system with GIS function which is suitable for rural cadastraldigitization, and thereby basically meeting the demand of rural cadastral digital mapping.
