Abstract

The preparation and characterization of graphitic carbon nitride and g-C3N4-La2O3、g-C3N4-ZnO and g-C3N4-NiO composite catalysts were studied in this paper. G-C3N4、g-C3N4-La20、g-C3N4-ZnO and g-C3N4-Ni0were used for the degradation of MO under UV light and visible light irradiation.Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) has attracted increasing research interests as a metal-free and visible light active photocatalyst. It possesses excellent characteristics for photocatalysis, such as harvesting sunlight, chemical and photocatalytic stability, a suitable redox potential to efficiently catalyze reactions, abundant and inexpensive building elements. Precursors of preparing g-C3N4were many rich and inexpensive materials, such as melamine、urea、dicyandiamide and so on. Currently, although there are many methods to obtain g-C3N4, simple methods to abundance prepare g-C3N4need to be further studied.Nano-semiconductor materials applying to photocatalytic water-splitting for hydrogen production and degradation organic pollutants is a kind of green technology directly using solar energy and has broad application prospects. But the photocatalytic efficiency of single semiconductor materials was relatively low for the recombination rate of photoinduced electron-hole pairs.Nano-semiconductor composite photocatalysts materials can overcome these shortcomings. Therefore, extending the absorbance to the visible region and enhancing the photocatalytic activity of nano-semiconductor composite photocatalysts materials were popular issues. g-C3N4-NiO, g-C3N4-ZnO and g-C3N4-La2O3composite photocatalyst was prepared via simple mechanical mixture method and a one-step roasting method. The obtained photocatalyst was characterized by multiple means, such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2-adsorption (BET), FT-IR, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and PL The photocatalytic performances of the catalysts were evaluated by photodegratation of MO under UV and visible light irradiation. Afterwards, we investigated the influence of preparation method and the content of g-C3N4. Achieved results are summarized as follows:(1) Preparation method and the content of g-C3N4are two main factors affecting catalyst activity. Catalyst activity of catalysts by simple mechanical mixture method is lower than by one-step roasting method. These conclusions were confirmed via experiments of g-C3N4-La203and g-C3N4-Zn0.(2) A series of g-C3N4-NiO、g-C3N4-ZnO and g-C3N4-La203composite photocatalysts prepared by different precursors were used to the degradation of methyl orange solution. The results showed that the photocatalytic activity is first increase then decrease with the increase of the admixture of g-C3N4.(3) To g-C3N4-NiO composite photocatalysts, the catalyst g-C3N4/NiO-2has the best photocatalytic activity; To g-C3N4-ZnO composite photocatalysts, the catalyst g-C3N4-Zn0-5.6has the best photocatalytic activity; To g-C3N4-La2O3composite photocatalysts, when the La2O3/g-C3N4=3, the catalyst g-C3N4-La2O3-3has the best photocatalytic activity.
