Abstract

Pt/C catalysts are widely used in industrial catalysis, including hydrogen production reactions,C-C bond formations and oxidation-reduction reactions of the fuel cell. With the increasingdemand of platinum, more and more researchers specifically focuse on improving the activity ofthe Pt/C catalyst. As for nanoscale Pt/C catalyst, there are various factors affecting the catalyticactivity such as: the dispersion of the catalyst, the size, shape regularity and so on. Therefore, thepreparation of high-dispersed, and shape-ruled Pt/C catalyst has became one of the major researchfocus. In this paper, Pt/C catalysts were prepared via a typical hydrothermal treatment, through theregulation of reaction conditions,we got high-dispersed nano-sized Pt/C catalyst. The morphology, structures and compositions of the as-prepared Pt/C catalysts were investigated by TEM, XRD andEDS spectrum. Furthermore, electrochemical performances of the catalysts was studied by usingcyclic voltammetry. Main contents and conclusions are as follows:With the presence of inducer, Pt/C catalysts were obtained by using H2PtCl6·6H2O as rawmaterials. The experimental results show that the inducer type and reaction time have an importantimpact on the dispersion of the Pt/C catalyst. Through the regulation of these experimentalconditions, we finally get highly dispersed nano-sized Pt/C catalyst with certain rules when theinducer for the DG, the concentration is1mol/L, and the reaction is1h.The ECA and electro-oxidation for methanol of as-prepared Pt/C catalyst obtained wereanalyzed by using cyclic voltammetry on three-electrode electrochemical workstation. Theexperiments showed that the electrochemical active area of the highly dispersed Pt/C catalyst isrelatively large; when comes to the electrocatalytic oxidation of methanol, the highly dispersedPt/C catalyst has better anti-drug performance, great adaptability under different Pt loadings, andbetter durability by taking the rapid aging experiment; at the same time, we found that the loadingof Pt has a great influence on the electrochemical performance. When the concentration of DG is1mol/L and the Pt loadings is50μg/cm2, we got the best electrochemical performance of thecatalyst. There is still some gaps when compared with commercial Pt/C catalysts.
