Abstract

Petrochemical wastewater was one of the difficulties in the field of industrial sewagetreatment with the characteristics of complex pollutants composition, large emission, anddifficulty in dealing with, large consumption of resources. Physical, chemical andbiochemical treatment technologies were effective for treating petrochemical wastewater. Inthis study, the secondary treatment water taken from one wastewater treatment plant was usedas an object to investigate the best operation condition of Fenton oxidation in treatingpetrochemical wastewater. The study can provide technical Reference for the similarpetrochemical secondary treatment. The parameters that affected the treatment efficiency in the Fenton oxidation experiment, such as H2O2dosage, FeSO4·7H2O dosage and pH was investigated and determined in thisstudy. The optimum cost-effective condition for petrochemical secondary treatment water byFenton oxidation was obtained: the dosage of H2O2and FeSO4·7H2O were0.12mL/L and0.9g/L. The concentration of COD was45.9mg/L, and the removal rate was42.88%in thecondition. According to the raw water treatment effects based on different initial pH, weachieved the conclusion: it can get expected result when the pH was7.7. This paper measuredthe changes of pH and the floc particle size distribution in the water samples after the reaction. The result showed that both oxidation and coagulation occurred in the process of treatment. In addition, the changes and characteristics of the raw wastewater and treated wastewaterwere analyzed by UV-vis spectroscopy,3D fluorescence spectroscopy and GC–MS. Theresults showed that the most of organic matters in the wastewater were removed. The UV-visspectroscopy reflected the presence of conjugated double bonds (conjugated diene, unsaturated aldehyde and unsaturated ketone), and the UV254value decreased after thereaction. The3D fluorescence showed that the organic matters in the wastewater weretryptophan aromatic protein and intoxicated substances. The GC–MS showed that the mainfeatures of pollutants in the petrochemical wastewater degraded after the reaction.
