Abstract

Conducting polymers including polyaniline, polypyrrole and polythiophene are widely used in so many fields due to their facile synthesis, highly conducting and environmental stability. However, one simple polymer is difficult to attain separately with individual components and different types of composite materials received much attention because of their potential for combing properties. For example, Conducting polymers are connected with precious metals, transition metal or transition metal oxides, which are successfully applied in the fields of catalysis, supercapacitors and chemical sensors. Polyaniline (PANI) becomes hotspot among the conducting polymers. The article main research is about of the synthesis of PANI/MnO2in different conditions by chemical oxidation methods, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), High-power transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) as the main methods of characterization. Besides, the noble metal nanoparticles are introduced into the PANI/MnO2composite materials, which are used in the field of catalysis. We also provide a new route to prepare nitrogen-containing carbon-manganese composite materials by carbonizing PANI/MnO2composite materials. The main results are as follows:(1) We report a template-based fabrication technique for PANI/MnO2composite materials. Firstly, MnO2nanorods are prepared with diameters60nm-100nm by changing the conditions. Then, aniline is added into the solution in the presence of acid. The manganese oxide is reduced into soluble Mn2+ions, the template to be spontaneously removed after the reaction, whereas the aniline monomer is oxidatively polymerized on the surface of the manganese oxide. The main advantage is that it can preserve the morphology of the template, and the polyaniline is the same to the structure of polyailine prepared by conventional chemical methods. Effects of reaction time, aniline concentration are investigated. The copmosite materials are used as the catalyst to degradation of the target dyes with H2O2.(2) PANI/Au nanoparticle composites are prepared with the good dispersion, then adding into MnO2nanorods by the reaction between polyaniline and KMnO4. Effect of KMnO4concentration on loading amount of MnO2on surfaces of PANI nanofibers is investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) analysis used to characterize the composite. The copmosite materials are also used in the field of catalysis.(3) Preparing the PANI/MnO2composite materials, and they are converted to nitrogen-containing carbon-manganese composites in the Nitrogen atmosphere by high temperature treatment. Effect of different temperature for the morphology and structure of materials is also investigated. Besides, SiO2thin layer is added into the surface of the material. Effect of TEOS concentration on keeping the morphology is investigated when calcining PANI/MnO2composite materials. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analysis used to characterize the composite.
