Abstract

One-dimensional nanostructures, including nanowires, nanorods, nanobelts and nanotubes haveattracted increasing interest in the field of nanoscience due to their unique physical and chemical properties. With the miniaturization of the device, the size requirement for nanowires is getting smaller and smaller, atthe same time, the quantum effects become obvious more and more. Ultrafine diameter is not onlyconducive to the device miniaturization and super quantum confinement effect will lead to enhancedphysical performance. Thus ultrathin nanowires become a research hotspot. Among the semiconductornanowires, cadmium compounds semiconductor nanowires are the most in-depth studied and widelyapplied. This article mainly focuses on the study of preparation and properties of cadmium compoundsultrathin nanowires. Herein, we report a hydrothermal method for ultrathin Cd(OH)2nanowires with a highaspect ratio. The synthesized ultrathin Cd(OH)2nanowires were used as the sacrificial templates to generateultrathin Cd(OH)2/CdS and CdO nanowires, which is mainly involved in the following three aspects:1The study on ultrathin Cd(OH)2nanowires by hydrothermal synthesisUltrathin Cd(OH)2nanowires with a high aspect ratio were prepared by the hydrothermal method fromCd(NO32·4H2O and C6H12N4aqueous solution. The principle of ultrathin Cd(OH)2nanowires formationwas studied. The ultrathin Cd(OH)2nanowires by hydrothermal method were assembled on the electrodeand the I-V curves was studied. The current intensity of ultrathin Cd(OH)2nanowires achieved to10-14A.2The synthesis and properties of ultrathin Cd(OH)2/CdS nanowires and ultrathin CdO nanowiresThe synthesized ultrathin Cd(OH)2nanowires were used as the sacrificial templates and reacted withH2S gas to generate ultrathin Cd(OH)2/CdS nanowires. The current intensity for the Cd(OH)2/CdSnanowires assembled on electrodes achieved to10-10A from I-V curves, which is increased by four ordersmagnitude compared to Cd(OH)2nanowires. In addition, the Cd(OH)2/CdS nanowires could also beobtained by reaction with thioacetamide. For this case, the current could increased two orders ofmagnitude compared to Cd(OH)2and it also has obvious light response. On the other hand, ultrathinCd(OH)2nanowires could also be transformed into ultrathin CdO nanowires under350°C for three hours. The current intensity for the CdO nanowires was about10-7A, which is increased by seven orders magnitude compared to Cd(OH)2nanowires.3The study on preparation of ultrathin Cd(OH)2, CdS nanowires by LB techniqueThe ultrathin Cd(OH)2nanowires were synthesized on air-water interface through LB technique byadjust the pH value for the subphase. The NaOH concentration and surface pressure were studied for theireffect on the morphology structure of products. The ultrathin Cd(OH)2nanowires were intrduced into asealed container for preparing Cd(OH)2/CdS nanowires. The composition of these nanowires wasanalysized by XPS and their absorption peaks difference was observed by UV-visible absorption spectrum.
