China is one of the most natural disaster-influenced countries in the world. The disasters are extremely various with high occurrence rate and severe losses, especially in minority regions. For some historical reasons, China’s minorities mostly live in mountainous or barren regions, where the weather is always too frigid or arid. Such hostile environment determines that these regions are very vulnerable to natural disasters. Specific to say, the hazard of disasters is great and the exposure of hazard-affected body is distinct. In addition, abnormal phenomena of global climate change are drastically increasing in recent years. Natural disasters such as earthquake, landslide and debris flow, snow disaster have great influence on the development of minority regions. So how to reduce disaster losses and improve the ability to resist natural disasters in minority regions is an urgent problem to be solved.At present, in the field of disaster science scholars mainly do some research about disaster risk. They expect to service for government’s disaster management through disaster risk identification and evaluation. However, the disasters in minority regions are so frequent, especially earthquake, landslide and debris flow, snow disaster. These disasters have a long-term influence on the sustainable development of society and economy in minority regions. On the basis of introduction and characteristics analysis for earthquake, landslide and debris flow, snow disaster in minority regions, the thesis chose index from people loss and economy loss, used state or region as evaluation unit, conducted hazard assessment for those three disasters, and also drew hazard degree maps separately using GIS. Afterwards, taking snow disaster as an example, the thesis primarily established a system of snow disaster precaution and reduction in minority regions. At the same time, the dissertation emphasized that speeding the development of fundamental disaster law, enhancing disaster education in minority regions, valuing the security of houses and important infrastructures and increasing goods reserves for disaster relief play a crucial role to improve and perfect the system built before.
