Study on Wetting Deformation of Metamorphic Soft Rock Embankment in Western Section of Ankang of Shi-Tian Expressway

Engineering practice shows that immersing in water would give rise to the soakingdeformation of the metamorphic soft rock filling material and can lead to the segmentalsedimentation of the embankment, which may badly affect the traffic safety. So it is urgent toconduct an in-depth research on this problem. Therefore, based on the analysis of triaxial testtheory and in combination with the numerical simulation, this thesis has carried out a study onthe soaking deformation law in metamorphic soft rock filling material.1. Through large-scale triaxial tests on soaking deformation, the soaking deformation lawof the filling material in the metamorphic soft rock has been studied, the results show thatthere exists turning point under different confining pressure and density condition of thefilling material’s soaking deformation variation, which indicating that the confining pressureand density not only affects the size of the filling material’s soaking deformation, but alsoaffect its law of development; the empirical formula of the filling material’s soakingdeformation and the axial deviatoric stress; the rationality of the formula has been verifiedthrough the determination of the formula parameters by partial adoption of the test data andprediction of future test results; the effect of filling material’s soaking deformation onshearing strength has been analyzed, which demonstrating that the filling material’s strengthhas reduced after soaking deformation.2. The single-line and double-line testing method of the soaking deformation of the filingmaterial in embankment has been contrastively analyzed, the implementation method of the“single-line testing” in finite element analysis has been proposed; the load test on large-scalelaboratory soaking deformation of the embankment has been analyzed, which has beencompared with the laboratory test results and the earlier proposed method and the validity ofthe established analysis model was verified.3. According to the proposed implementation method of the “single-line testing”, thefinite element model of the embankment has been established, the impact of such factors asthe embankment immersion depth, the upper load, the embankment height and the side slopegradient on soaking deformation has been studied, it is showed that the side slope gradient has a small effect, but the immersion depth, the upper load and the embankment height has acomparatively larger effect.
