With the further progress of urbanization, many cities in our country are planning andbuilding Cycle Expressway. The comprehensive comparison of the highway route planning isthe most important issue that need to be solved before construction,its science and rationalityare directly related to the project if it can meet the country’s economic construction needs.This article draws conclusions and gives a simple opening of the subject for discussionfromthe investigationof Cycle Expressway (East Line) in Urumqi and gives a certainsignificanceabout how to choose Cycle Expressway route program.Firstly, it analyzes the elements of the corridor,gives the principle of identifying andselecting corridor on the base of research on corridor identification and analysis. Draw theconclusions of steps, methods, characteristic about corridor choosing. And choose the route ofUrumqi Cycle Expressway Corridor (East Line).Secondly, on the base of the motor vehicle OD survey, it analysisthe traffic volume andtraffic characteristics. Giving the traffic generation forecast on the base of the analysis oftraffic characteristics, combined with the socio-economic trends, characteristics, as well as therelationship between socio-economic and transportation, and BP neural network, four-stepmethod. Do traffic distribution forecast combined with the regional road network size,characteristics. Do traffic assignment forecast combined with the space layout structure of theregional road network, road network characteristics, route selection features.Then, it demonstratesthe technical standard such as design speed and number of lanes,combined with the functions, status and terrain conditions of the regional road network andtraffic forecast results,on the basis of analyzing the design capacity and service levels.Ultimately, it selects technical standards reasonably. It is demonstrated that Urumqi CycleExpressway (East Line) is a six-lane expressway all the way whichthe design speed of100km/h.Once again, summarizing and expounding the principles and steps aboutsettinghighway start and end points, and focuses on the process of Urumqi Cycle Expressway (EastLine).Compared by analysis and demonstration, the start point of Urumqi Cycle Expressway(East Line) is Oasis Fort Interchange and the end point is Wulabo West Interchange.Finally, it proposes evaluation method based on TOPSIS-RSR route program, buildsup amathematical model of the highway route program evaluation. And it offers a comprehensiveevaluation of Urumqi Cycle Expressway (East Line) route options, compares the advantagesand disadvantages of each program fully, and selects the optimal route program.
