Asphalt material as a typical viscoelastic material, with the temperature sensitivity, iteasily leads to pavement rutting destruction happenings, especially for the roads withthe longitudinal slopes, heavy traffic and overloaded vehicles in the torrid areas.The keyissues of steel bridge pavement damage are the intensity issue of thewaterproof-adhesives layer under the extreme temperatures and the fatigue issue underthe normal temperature. Because of the direct contact between the waterproof-adhesiveslayer materials and steel plates and the good heat conduction of steel plates, thecohesive materials become weak in its intensity under the high temperature. Sowaterproof-adhesive layer of the steel bridge pavement must be of strong shear behaviorand fatigue resistance.This paper starts from the selection of materials, using polymer composite modified topreparation hard modified asphalt. It contains the following five main aspects:(1)Development of modified asphalt hard. On the basis of the grasp of the properties and usagesabout the different modifiers, this essay formulates70#matrix asphalt, SBS, rockasphalt, additive A and TLA to make the hard modified asphalt. Through the orthogonaltest design and range analysis, it concludes the effect law of each performance index ofthe base asphalt influenced by different factors and mixing amount and fixes on the bestcombination among the varied factors. Finally, the fluorescent microscope was used toanalysis the microscopic of modified hard asphalt,to observe the distribution ofmodifier in hard modified asphalt.(2) Mix proportion design. This essay choosesAC-20C and GA-10two mixtures. For AC–20C, through the Marshall Specimenvolume parameter to determine the optimal asphalt content of hard modified asphalt AC–20C and SBS modified asphalt. While for GA-10, this essay by way of fluidity test,penetration test and low temperature bending test, it also fixes the bestasphalt-aggregate ratio.(3) Mixture pavement performance evaluation. Using trackingtest, Indirect Tensile Tests and Four-point bending flexural tests to test its hightemperature performance and fatigue performance.(4) Complex structure fatigueproperty test is made by wheel tracking test to imitate actual model of road(bridge) one,to check up the property of the complex structure.(5) through the finite element analysisof the middle and under layers, it can improve the ability of anti-distortion of the roadsif using hard modified asphalt.Through this study, we can get a comparatively satisfying understanding of the hard modified asphalt and the mixture materials, and provide the experimentation groundsfor the popularization of the hard modified asphalt, and also offer a new thought andsolution for the program of the asphalt roads at high level and steel bridge pavement.
