Abstract

With the development of power electronics technology, SMPS spreads out fastas a high efficiency power converters. In order to suppress the EMI of SMPS,governments make strict rules and standards of EMC. Usually, EMC test is expensive, tiring, and time consuming, which may slow down the acess speed to market ofproduction. This paper proposes a simulation and modeling way to predict conductedEMI of SMPS, in order to provide a fast and economic way to forecast conductedEMI for small and medium sized enterprises.Firstly, according to EMC standard, a conducted EMI measure platform is builtand measure of conducted EMI of a low power flyback converter is made. Analysethe measure result based on the structure of flyback converter, explain the spectrumpoint in the result. Point out the oscillations of Power MOSFET is the main CM noisesource and oscillation of Power Diode and switching frequency is the DM noisesource, explain the noise source’s pathways and their influence on the conductedEMI.Secondly, bulid the conducted EMI model of flyback converter, including highfrequency model of transformer, Power MOSFET, Power Diode and PCB board.Focus on the parasitic parameters of transformer model, discuss short-circuit methodto measure leakage inductance and improve it, proposes calculation equations ofwinding distribute capacitance and parasitic capacitance between winding andshielding layer. Use Q3D software to extract parasitic parameters of PCB in highfrequency. Do time-domain simulation in simulation software SABER and do FFTtransform to the noise voltage and get simulation conducted EMI result. Finally, use FSV method to evaluate the simulated conducted EMI resultcomparing with measured conducted EMI result, and validate the model oftransformer and Power MOSFET is correct enough to describe the conducted EMIfeatures, which make it clear that modeling and simulation is a economic and fastway to forecast conducted EMI.
