Abstract

Taxonomy of Rhytismataceae on evergreen broad leaved tree weresystematically comprehensive studied with the modern fungal classificationtechnology which is based on the ontogeny, the characters of morphology, ecologyand biology etc. At the same time, DNA were extracted by CTAB method.Interspecific genetic diversity of the18Terriera strains were studied by the differenceof28S rDNA sequences. Results determined the importance of some morphologicalcharacters and the area of specimen on the classification of fungal species level.Relationships and genetic diversity of the interspecific strains of Terriera were furtherconfirmed. The main results were as follows:Specimens on evergreen broad leaved tree from the Shennongjia forestry regionof Hubei Province, China from own collections and the Herbarium of Forest Fungi ofAnhui Agricultural University (AAUF) were examined and classified according to thetaxonoic principles of Darker(1967), Sherwood(1980), Cannon&Minter(1983),Johnston(1986), Spooner(1991) and Kirk et al.(2008). Eight species in three differentgenera of Rhytismataceae were studied, including T. angularis, T. camelliae, T.tumida, L. latum, L. yangii, L. osmanthi. C. illiciicola and C. occultus, Among them T.angularis, T. tumida, L. latum, are described as three new species. The description ofChinese and English, the discussion of Chinese and illustrations were provided for thenew species. This paper provides descriptions, hosts, distribution and discussions withclose species in detail for these species. And a dichotomous key to these species werecomplied.A phylogenetic tree of Terriera on evergreen broad-leaved trees was constrcutedbased on eighteen28S rDNA sequences, and Rhytisma panamense (GQ253099) wasselected as outgroup. The phylogenetic tree included3clades. T. camelliicola andeleven T. minor composed a independent branch with100%bootstrap support values. This independent branch divided into Clade I and Clade II with100%bootstrapsupport values. Clade III with63%bootstrap support values, involved2subclades: Aand B. Two T. illicicola and T. sp. nov. from ourselves and T. minor from Genbankformed subclade A with60%boostrap support values. Three stains from Genbankcomposed subclade B, which had100%boostrap support values. Three conclusionswere obtained from the analysis of the phylogenetic tree. Firstly, position ofembedding, the shape of asci and paraphyses have important significance intaxonomy of Terriera on evergreen broad leaved tree in the species level. Secondly, interspecific relationships of Terriera on broad-leaved trees are not related to theirhosts. Thirdly, Origin have great impact on intraspecific genetic diversity, the samestrains or the close strains which have the same origin are clustered together firstly.
